Do Now April 29, 2010

Go through 40 ideas for a Greener World and POST FIVE to your blog that you will follow this week. When you return Mon. May 10, we will discuss and assess your actions.

1. Leave grass clippings on the lawn after you mow rather than bagging and throwing them away. This saves energy and landfill space and the grass will decompose and return nutrients to the soil.

2. After birthday and holiday celebrations, save gift bags and boxes, ribbons, and tissue paper to reuse.

3. Invest in a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger for powering your digital camera, portable music player, remote control, and other gadgets. You'll reduce waste, save resources like steel, and save money in the long run.

4. Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth and shave and you'll save as much as 3,000 gallons per year.

5. Find out how to recycle items that you can't place in your curbside bin like batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and plastic bags. When in doubt, call your local solid waste management agency or go to earth911.org.

Do Now 4/14/10

Do Now: ON YOUR BLOG Imagine you are from another country and you READ this story about a man dying on a Septa bus

What would you assume about Philadelphia? Explain how these assumptions are both true and false. How can our society improve? Do we need to?

Me coming from another country I would think that Philadelphia is no place for a person to be. This is because it seems that Philadelphia does not care about there citizens. Our society can improve and we can care about more people as we move on. A man dying on a bus EXTREMELY overboard. Shows people that nobody about the community , just about themselves and it is not even all. But the little that shows affects everybody.

March Of Dimes, 4/13

Well the March of Dimes is for the purpose of babies. This is a yearly procedure and they always make a profit off of this. Each year it is a walk of 5 miles (2.5 one way 2.5 coming back) . This walk is good for you to get out and enjoy the weather and maybe a good family support time. The money for these babies prevent them from getting sick, developing life threating diseases and lastly death. Many of these babies are premature and are needing for because their parents or health insurance does not cover them. Most of the time the money is needed for the supplies because their supplies are very expensive and money does not grow on trees! From my experience last year, it was a very nice time for bonding or just for you to get out and enjoy. The walk maybe hot so you would need refreshments to keep cooled. Little snacks are given towards the middle of the walk and at the end also. The babies are really in need and it would really make an impact if you did this walk. Just imagine if that was your sibling you would want the help....

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.

To Me This Statement Says That Nothing Happens To Fix The World. This Is Being Sarcastic Towards Many People. Nobody Does Not Is Quick To Fix The Community Or Everywhere .

Do Now: April 12

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

To me this statement says that in order for a change to start , you have to start it. I take it that you have to enforce on what you want. Many people say things that they can start but they do nothing about it. So basically to get what you want start it , our do something about it.
